Maher Barakat lettered four times at South Dakota Mines. setting the field goals made record in 1966, before breaking it again in future years. In 1968, he added punting to his repertoire. In addition to connecting on 12 PATs and three field goals, he averaged 38 yards per punt and 55.6 yards per kickoff. He held every field goal, extra point, kickoff, and punting record upon graduation. He would go on to be drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 15th round of the NFL draft (375).
