Lance Mriden was an outstanding defensive end on the Hardrocker football team recording all conference and NAIA All-District honors during his senior year. He played on three SDIC Conference Championship teams and helped the team post a 27-9 record during his four years.

During the 1983 season, Mriden led the team in sacks (5), big hits (3) and blocked punts (2).
