South Dakota Mines

Newman was a powerful outside hitter that led the Lady Hardrocker volleyball team to the top of the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference. Named to the SDIC all-conference team all four years she played, Newman was selected as the league's Most Valuable Player in her senior year in 1991. She recorded 1,171 kills and 1963 digs in her career. Tech enjoyed some of its greatest volleyball success during Laura's four years, and her contributions to that success are remembered here.
