The Women’s Basketball teams of 1978-1979 and 1979-1980 were dominating teams that captured SDIC Conference Basketball Championships with the 1980 team also winning the AIAW State Championship. The 78-79 team finished with an 18-6 record, while the 79-80 team ended 20-9. The teams were coached by Bob Hunt and he remarked that “The Meyer sisters (Kerri and Terri) and Tammy Petersen are the heart of the team.”  These two teams set the early standard for women’s basketball at the School of Mines.
