Hall of Fame
Chuck Speice, a 1957 geological engineering graduate, was a multi-sport athlete at Mines, participating in football, men's basketball, track and field, and wrestling. An end in football, Speice competed from 1953 to 1956, while also earning letters in basketball, track and field, and wrestling. He was coached by 2004 Hall of Fame inductee Clare Ekeland. Speice participated in the ROTC and continued his U.S. Army service until 1969, receiving an honorable discharge as a Captain of Artillery.
