South Dakota Mines Volleyball Opens Up RMAC Play

SPEARFISH, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team opens up conference play this week, first with a match at Black Hills State University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., then on Friday, the home opener is against Western Colorado University at the King Center, scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.

Series History

vs. Black Hill State
  • In the matchups dating back to 1995, these two rivals, have met 67 times, with Black Hills State winning 47 of those battles.

Scouting Report

Black Hills State
  • The Yellowjackets have started the season 3-5, and are coming off of a 1-3 weekend at the Tiger Classic hosted by Fort Hays State.
  • Black Hills State has also been playing strong defense, they are 5th in the RMAC in opponent hitting percentage allowing an attack percentage of .174%
  • The Yellowjackets are 6th in the RMAC in digs per set, averaging 14.66.
  • Black Hills has several athletes among the RMAC leaderboards, with Madison Hoopman, Karly Marx, Emma Desanti, Haedyn Rhoades, and Payton Bodemann in the top 10 in per set numbers in kills, assists, service aces, blocks, and digs
Western Colorado
  • Western Colorado has started the season 5-3 and is coming in on a 3-match winning streak after winning their last three matches at the Oklahoma tournament.
