Volleyball to Play in RMAC Power Pod in Denver This Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball stays on the road this week to face Colorado Mesa and #12 MSU Denver in the RMAC Power Pod in Denver, Colorado.

Series History

The Mavericks hold an 11-1 all-time lead on South Dakota Mines. The Hardrockers broke an 11-match losing streak against Colorado Mesa last season as they won 3-2 at the King Center.

South Dakota Mines is 1-12 against MSU Denver. Their lone win was a 3-1 victory on Oct. 12, 2019, in Rapid City. The Roadrunners topped the Hardrockers 3-0 earlier this month in Denver.

About the Mavericks

Colorado Mesa is 12-7 overall and 6-4 in the RMAC this season. After losing to Westminster and Colorado School of Mines last week, they dropped out of AVCA Top 25 contention. Their last win was a 3-1 victory against CSU Pueblo on Oct. 18.

Sadie Scoville leads the team with 217 kills and 2.97 kills per set. Defensively, Allison Waller has 3.70 digs per set, while Aesha Alrashed leads the Mavericks with 73 total blocks. The Mavericks currently sit in sixth place in the RMAC, while they were picked to finish second in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Roadrunners

Through 20 games, MSU Denver is 17-3 overall with a 9-1 RMAC record. Their lone RMAC loss came on Sept. 26 against Colorado Mesa. The Roadrunners are on an eight-game winning streak, the longest winning streak in the conference.

Annika Helf is fifth in the RMAC with 3.41 kills per set. Three different Roadrunners are in the top five of the RMAC in hitting percentage. GabriElle Brewer is second in the conference with 32 aces this season. Going into the weekend, the Roadrunners are second in the RMAC. They were picked to win the conference in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines goes into the weekend 7-13 overall and 5-5 in the RMAC. They are coming off two road wins at Regis on Oct. 24 and at Chadron State on Oct. 25. The Hardrockers have won three of their last four contests after they defeated New Mexico Highlands on Oct. 17.

Lexi Glendenning's 3.44 kills per set is fourth in the RMAC, while Morgan Daugherty is eighth with 3.03 kills per set. Maria Bouman is fifth in the conference with 0.39 aces per set. Hannah Benes has 347 digs this season, the second-best total in the conference. The Hardrockers' 2.07 blocks per set marks the third-best average in the RMAC so far this season.

As part of the RMAC Power Pod, these contests are non-conference matches. These three teams all finished in the top three of the RMAC last season.

What's Next

South Dakota Mines will travel to Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 8. After that contest, they will come back home to play Black Hills State on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. That starts a three-game homestand for the Hardrockers.
