Volleyball Starts Five-Game Road Trip at Regis and Chadron State

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines is at Regis and Chadron State this weekend to begin a five-game road trip.

Series History

All-time with Regis, the Hardrockers are 1-14 dating back to 2012. The Rangers lost their first game against the Hardrockers last season, a 0-3 loss at the King Center. In Denver, the Rangers hold a 7-0 record against South Dakota Mines.

South Dakota Mines is 24-26 all-time against Chadron State. The Hardrockers have won three straight matchups, including a 3-0 non-conference game on Oct. 3 at the King Center earlier this season.

About the Rangers

Regis is 1-17 overall this season with a 1-8 record in the RMAC. Their lone win of the year came on Sept. 26, as the Rangers topped Western Colorado 3-2. Since that win, the Rangers have lost seven straight games with just two total set wins in that stretch.

Isabella Smith has led the Regis offense with 151 kills and 2.70 kills per set this season. Bailey Nichols is sixth in the RMAC with 7.13 assists per set. Defensively, Braiziah Dixon's 48 blocks lead the team. Regis was picked sixth in the RMAC Preseason Poll this season.

About the Eagles

Chadron State comes into the weekend at 4-15 overall and 1-8 in the RMAC. Since they fell to the Hardrockers on Oct. 3, the Eagles have lost five straight contests. Their last win came on Sept. 27 against Western Colorado.

Mataya Ward leads the Eagles with 176 kills and 3.32 kills per set. Jillian Donovan's 579 assists ranks third in the RMAC. Avery Lacy's 226 digs and 3.65 digs per set leads Chadron State. The Eagles were picked to finish 13th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Hardrockers

Through 18 contests, South Dakota Mines is 5-13 and 3-5 in the RMAC. They split their RMAC games last weekend as they topped New Mexico Highlands 3-0 but fell to Adams State 0-3. Before that, they fell to (RV) UCCS and #12 MSU Denver on the road on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11.

Freshman Lexi Glendenning is fifth in the RMAC with 3.45 kills per set this season. Against the Cowgirls last weekend, Glendenning put up a season-high .419 hitting percentage with 16 kills in the 3-0 win for the Hardrockers. Hannah Benes ranks second in the conference with 4.64 digs per set. The Hardrockers were picked fourth in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will continue their five-game road trip in the RMAC Power Pod next weekend. They will face (RV) Colorado Mesa on Oct. 31, followed by a matchup with #12 MSU Denver on Nov. 1. After playing Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 8, the Hardrockers will return home to face Black Hills State on Nov. 11.
