Hardrockers End Historic 2025 Season With 5-1 Win Over Adams State

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Soccer closed out a historic season on Sunday with a 5-1 Senior Day win over Adams State.

Match 1: Hardrockers vs. #13 Fort Lewis, 1-5 L

In their first match of the weekend, South Dakota Mines fell 1-5 to #13 Fort Lewis on Thursday night.

Fort Lewis started strong as they scored in the third minute. The Hardrockers picked up four shots in the first 22 minutes but could not convert. Lucas Cardona was saved in the 43rd minute as Fort Lewis went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Lorenz Guintini made it 2-0 in the 50th minute for the Skyhawks. Erik Castanon put the Hardrockers back in the game as he scored off a Cardona pass. However, Fort Lewis scored three straight goals to end the match and win 5-1.

Following a Grizzlies goal, North extended his record with a goal in the 66th minute. Miklas picked up his second assist of the contest. That goal would be the last of the Hardrockers season as they won 5-1 over Adams State.

North totaled three shots, two shots on goal and two goals in 55 minutes played. Cardona, French and Sawyer Rueckert all had three shots against the Grizzlies. In total, the Hardrockers recorded 23 shots, 13 shots on goal and five goals. Freitas made one save in net for the South Dakota Mines.

The Hardrockers celebrated Senior Day before this match. Jonathan Stockwell, Freitas, Loveless, Gabe Ripperda, Miklas and Chase Stohlmann were all honored before kickoff.
