Soccer Back Home to Face #13 Skyhawks and Grizzlies

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Soccer returns home to wrap up the regular season against #13 Fort Lewis on Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by Senior Day against Adams State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Series History

The Hardrockers are 0-9 all-time against Fort Lewis. Last season, Fort Lewis dismantled the Hardrockers 5-0 in Durango, Colorado. The Skyhawks have won all five matchups in Rapid City.

Against Adams State, South Dakota Mines is 4-6-5 dating back to 2013. These teams faced back on Sept. 26 in Alamosa, Colorado. The Hardrockers won that match 4-2. South Dakota Mines is 3-1-1 in their last five matchups with the Grizzlies.

About the Skyhawks

Fort Lewis comes into the weekend ranked #13 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. They are 7-3-4 overall with a 3-2-2 RMAC record. They have won three of their last four matches, including a 5-0 win over Colorado Christian on Tuesday. Their one loss was to #23 CSU Pueblo on Oct. 19.

Lorenz Guintini leads the team and is tied for first in the RMAC with 10 goals and 22 total points. Alessio Andreottola is second in NCAA DII with 11 assists this season. As a team, the Skyhawks' 33 goals this season is fourth in the RMAC. They were picked to finish second in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Grizzlies

Through 14 contests, Adams State is 1-12-1 overall and 0-7 in the RMAC. They have lost nine straight matches and are 0-5 on the road going into the weekend. The Grizzlies fell to Colorado School of Mines 1-3 on Oct. 24 in Alamosa.

Avery Richards is first on the team with six goals and two assists this season. He picked up a hat trick on Sep. 18 against Wayland Baptist. Eric Kidson has three goals for the Grizzlies. In the RMAC Preseason Poll, Adams State was picked 10th.

About the Hardrockers

After a 0-3-1 road trip, South Dakota Mines dropped to 6-6-3 and 1-6-1 in the RMAC. They were scoreless last weekend as they fell 0-1 at Westminster and 0-2 at Colorado Mesa. In their last game at Dakota Fields, the Hardrockers blanked #11 CSU Pueblo 2-0. Rider Grow and Sawyer Rueckert both scored for the Hardrockers.

Nickolas North is tied with Guintini with their 10 goals this season. North leads the team with 22 points in his 966 minutes played. Parker Yocom and Alvin Udoto both have four goals for the Hardrockers. Daniel Freitas leads the goalkeepers with his 1.43 goals against average and .743 save percentage.

All students who enter Thursday's match will receive free hot chocolate, courtesy of SAAC. Sunday is Senior Day for South Dakota Mines as they will honor six seniors before the match starts.
