RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Soccer concludes their four-match road trip this weekend at Westminster on Friday and Colorado Mesa on Sunday.
Series History
Westminster holds a 9-2 record all-time against the Hardrockers. South Dakota Mines won their first matchup in 2015 but proceeded to drop their next nine matches. However, the Hardrockers won 2-1 last season at Dakota Fields.
South Dakota Mines picked up their first-ever win over Colorado Mesa earlier this season in a non-conference match. The Hardrockers dominated the Mavericks with a 4-0 victory. Colorado Mesa is 12-1-2 all-time against the Hardrockers.
About the Griffins
Westminster is fifth in the RMAC with a 6-5-2 overall record and 2-1-2 RMAC record. Earlier this season, they drew with #7 CSU Pueblo 1-1 and #9 Fort Lewis 3-3. Last week, the Griffins defeated Colorado School of Mines 2-0 in Golden, Colorado.
Owen Gallo and Cam Neeley both have three goals this season to lead the Griffins. Westminster has 14 different goal scorers so far this season. Tommy Manwaring has been the primary goalkeeper as he has a 1.38 goals against average and .694 save percentage.
About the Mavericks
Since their loss to the Hardrockers on Sept. 28, the Mavericks have gone 3-1-1 to improve their record to 6-4-2 overall. They drew 3-3 with #7 CSU Pueblo on Oct. 5 and followed that up with a 4-1 win against #9 Fort Lewis on Oct. 12.
Manuel Ponce Casas is tied for third in the RMAC with eight goals this season. His 2.5 shots per game ranks third in the RMAC. Nathan Hernandez has six goals and four assists for the Mavericks. Goalkeeper Nathan Beck has played in all 12 matches for the Mavericks this season.
About the Hardrockers
South Dakota Mines is in the midst of their best season in program history with their 6-4-3 overall record. They are looking to climb up the RMAC standings with a 1-4-1 RMAC record. Last weekend, the Hardrockers went 0-1-1 with a 1-2 loss at MSU Denver and 3-3 draw at Colorado Christian. Before that, they topped #11 CSU Pueblo 2-0 at Dakota Fields.
Nickolas North is first in the RMAC with 10 goals and 22 total points.
Parker Yocom and
Alvin Udoto both have four goals for the Hardrockers.
Daniel Freitas has started for South Dakota Mines in the last four matches. He has a 1.39 goals against average and .727 save percentage. He has made 16 saves on 41 shots faced with six goals allowed.
The Hardrocker offense ranks first in the RMAC and third in NCAA Division II with 2.85 goals per game.
