BILLINGS, Mont. – South Dakota Mines Cross Country took home second and third place at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears open on Friday afternoon.
South Dakota Mines continued their strong start to the 2025 season with a second-place finish in the men's 8k and third place in the women's 6k.
On the men's side, Jordan Lamoreaux highlighted for the Hardrockers with second place out of 103 runners. He ran a career-best 24:53.6 in the event to finish in second.
Owen Johnson ran a 25:50.3 to pick up 12
th.
Tristan Enders,
Zach Hentschel and
Jackson Stafford all recorded 15
th, 16
th and 17
th, respectively.
Tanner Reinert collected 21
st, while Jack Errera placed 24
th and
Evan Valencia finished in 26
th.
For the Hardrockers, it is their highest finish of the season so far and their third top four finish.
The Hardrocker women picked up third place overall out of 14 teams at the meet.
Addison Smetana ran a career-best 24:53.6 to collect ninth out of the 76 total runners.
Emily Jones placed 10
th for the Hardrockers.
Alana Howard and
Lundi Ferrier placed in 17
th and 18
th, respectively.
Kat Tvrdy rounded out the top 20 with 20
th place.
This was the Hardrockers best finish of the 2025 season so far.
The men's and women's teams will look ahead to the RMAC Championship coming up in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
What's Next
South Dakota Mines will compete in the RMAC Championship on Oct. 25 in Colorado Springs. Following that meet, the Hardrockers are set to host the Bauer XC Classic on Nov. 1 at Hart Ranch.
