STURGIS, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines Cross Country teams participated in the Gage McSpadden Memorial Invite hosted by Black Hills State but ran in Sturgis on Friday night.
The male and female teams started off the season with second and third place finishes with several individuals running strong races.
Starting with the men, as a team, they finished second, ahead of Black Hills State and only behind Colorado Christian who is currently the #18 ranked team nationally.
Tristan Enders recorded a fifth-place finish, running the 6K in 19:09.0, while
Joran Lamoreaux (19:15.2),
Cole Tatro (19:21.4) and
Tyler Captain (19:38.1), joined him in the top 10, finishing in 11th, 15th and 20th. Finishing just outside the top 20 in 21st and 22nd were
Owen Hansmann and
Jackson Parrill who finished the race with times of 19:39.3 and 19:41.7.
Clare Fischer was the top Hardrocker on the female side finishing in sixth place with a time of 15:14.4.
Allyson Heiden joined in the top 10, finishing in ninth place after running a 15:24.1 in the 4K.
Abbie Saline ran 15:33.2 to cap off the top 20 finishers for SDM in 14th place.
Up Next – The cross country teams now have a week off, before heading to Minneapolis for the large Roy Griak Invitational on September 20.
