Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The Hardrockers fought throughout the game but were undermanned and fell.
Early in the first quarter, the Rangers would get going quickly going on an 8-0 run to start the contest before a
Ryan Weiss steal and basket would get the Hardrockers going, hitting another three to cut it to 8-5. Regis would hit a three and be sent to the free-throw line, taking a 12-5 lead with 5:10 to go in the quarter. Out of the timeout, trailing 13-5, the Hardrockers would get back-to-back baskets by
Naomi Hidalgo but Regis would continue to have success getting a three from Tashika Burrell then a layup, expanding their lead to double-digits, 20-9. To end the quarter, the Hardrockers trailed 23-11.
Early in the second quarter,
Ryan Weiss hit a jumper, moving her to #19 on the all-time scoring list. Regis would continue to carry a double-digit lead throughout the quarter. Ryan was not done yet, as she moved to #18 before the half ended, cutting the Regis lead to single-digits at 40-32.
Early in the third, Regis would recapture the momentum, taking a 49-35 lead, forcing a Hardrocker timeout. Down 17, Hidalgo would convert back-to-back baskets with a Regis three sandwiched in between. The Hardrockers would not be able to cut into the deficit much further in the 3rd quarter.
Bailey Johnson would hit two free throws to cut the deficit to 64-48 going into the fourth quarter.
Early in the fourth, Regis had all the momentum, expanding the lead to 20, 68-48. The Hardrockers would continue to fight throughout but fell 79-61.
