COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – South Dakota Mines Women's Basketball fell 38-64 at UCCS to open the weekend.
The Hardrockers were outscored 19-7 in the first quarter. After the Rockers made it 4-0 early, UCCS went on a 19-1 run to go up 19-5.
Addison Miranda made a jumper at the end of the quarter, making the score 7-19.
The Mountain Lions kept the pressure in the second quarter, outscoring the Hardrockers 17-6. They started the quarter on an 8-2 run, followed by a 7-2 run to go up by 23 points. They led 36-13 at halftime.
In the third, UCCS won the quarter 18-16 over the Rockers.
Carolina Ruiz Molina and
Alexis Backhaus combined for five points to start the half. After that, the Mountain Lions responded with a 7-1 run. They held a 54-29 lead over the Hardrockers with one quarter left.
The Rockers were outscored 10-9 in the fourth quarter, losing 38-64 to UCCS.
All 12 Hardrockers that participated scored in this game.
Savea Mansfield led the team with six points. Molina picked up five points, while Miranda recorded four rebounds.
South Dakota Mines grabbed 41 total rebounds against the Mountain Lions. They had 18 points in the paint and 17 bench points.
With the loss, the Rockers dropped to 7-14 overall and 5-8 in the RMAC.

The Hardrockers are back in action on Saturday at Colorado Christian at 1 p.m. They return home on Feb. 12 to take on Regis at 5:30 p.m.
