Soccer on the Road for Pair of Ranked Matchups

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Soccer is set for a ranked road trip at #14 UCCS and #8 CSU Pueblo this weekend.

Series History

The Hardrockers are 0-13 all-time against UCCS. Last season, the Mountain Lions topped the Rockers 1-0 in Rapid City.

Against CSU Pueblo, South Dakota Mines is 1-9 since 2015. The Hardrockers recorded their first win against the #11 ThunderWolves last season with a 2-0 victory. It was the Rockers first-ever win over a ranked opponent, as Rider Grow and Sawyer Rueckert scored for the Hardrockers.

About the Mountain Lions

#14 UCCS is 5-1-4 and 0-1-1 in the RMAC so far this season. Before their RMAC openers last week, the Mountain Lions were ranked second in the nation, highlighted by their 1-1 draw against #1 Midwestern State on Sept. 4. Last weekend, they fell 2-3 at Colorado Mesa and drew Westminster 1-1.

Yohann Fila is fourth in the conference with five goals scored this season. His 2.90 shots per game ranks fourth in the RMAC. Hugo Sjoberg is second in the RMAC with a .804 save percentage and 4.11 saves per game. The 2025 RMAC Champions were picked to win the RMAC once again in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the ThunderWolves

Coming into the weekend, #8 CSU Pueblo is unbeaten with a 7-0-1 overall record and 1-0-1 RMAC clip. The ThunderWolves defeated Westminster 2-1 and drew Colorado Mesa 1-1 last weekend on the road. They have allowed just four goals in eight contests so far this season.

Nick Cenek leads the RMAC with six goals, 30 shots and three game-winning goals. Goalkeeper Esteban Gonzalez leads the conference in saves, goals against average and shutouts. The ThunderWolves were picked to finish in fifth place in the RMAC Preseason Poll.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines has compiled a 5-2-2 overall record with a 1-1 RMAC record. On the road, they are 1-1-1 so far. The Hardrockers defeated Colorado School of Mines 3-2 to start RMAC play last weekend. On Sept. 27, they fell 2-1 to #20 Regis in Denver. Before that contest, the Hardrockers were unbeaten in their last four contests.

Lucas Miranda leads the RMAC with six goals in nine contests. Nickolas North is first in the conference with his 16 total points. He has five goals and six assists for the Rockers this season. Goalkeeper Claudio Otto is 3-1 in four games played for South Dakota Mines. The Rockers were picked to finish in ninth place in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
