COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – South Dakota Mines Soccer drew #14 UCCS 2-2 on Friday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium.
Lucas Miranda put the Hardrockers on the board in the 17
th minute to go up 1-0. After he had a shot saved, he scored his seventh goal of the season.
UCCS responded with a goal less than two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. Hardrocker goalkeeper made four saves in the first half to keep it a 1-1 game.
The Mountain Lions went up 2-1 in the 63
rd minute of the game.
However, after
Nickolas North put up shots on goal, he scored his sixth goal of the year in the 76
th minute. The Hardrockers collected two more shots the rest of the game, but the contest ended 2-2.
Otto highlighted for the Hardrockers with five total saves. North recorded three shots on goal with his game-tying score. Miranda collected three shots, two shots on goal and one goal. In total, the Rockers had 11 shots and six shots on goal.
For the Rockers, it is their first result over a ranked team since their 2-0 victory over # 11 CSU Pueblo on Oct. 12, 2025. Their only draw against a ranked opponent was a 0-0 double overtime tie against #21 Colorado Mesa on Oct. 30, 2016. Before their game on Friday, the Hardrockers were 0-12-0 against ranked opponents on the road.
It was also their first-ever result against UCCS as they were 0-13 since 2015 before Friday's contest.
What's Next
The Hardrockers will see another ranked opponent on Sunday as they take on #8 CSU Pueblo on the road at 2 p.m. They return home next weekend, starting with MSU Denver on Oct. 8 at 5 p.m.
