Women's Basketball Returns Home to Face Fort Lewis and Adams State

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Women's Basketball returns home to take on Fort Lewis on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Adams State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Series History

South Dakota Mines is 7-6 all-time against Fort Lewis. The Hardrockers have won three straight games and four of the last five. At the King Center last season, South Dakota Mines won 71-59 over the Skyhawks.

The Hardrockers hold a 7-5 all-time record over Adams State. Against the Grizzlies last year, the Hardrockers fell 70-88 in Alamosa, Colorado. Adams State has won five of the last six games against South Dakota Mines.

About the Skyhawks

Fort Lewis comes to Rapid City with a 10-4 overall record and 3-3 RMAC record. Last weekend, they split a home series with a loss against Western Colorado and a 19-point win over Westminster. The defeated Regis and New Mexico Highlands and fell to MSU Denver and Adams State earlier this season.

Katie Lamb currently leads the team with 12.1 points per game on 31.7% three-point shooting. Josie Davis leads the team on the boards with 5.6 rebounds per game. Fort Lewis ranks second in the RMAC with 15.3 offensive rebounds per game. They are also first in blocks and steals.

About the Grizzlies

Adams State goes into the weekend second in the RMAC with an 11-5 overall record and 5-1 RMAC record. Last weekend, they defeated Westminster but fell to #10 Colorado Mesa. They won their other four conference matchups over Colorado School of Mines, MSU Denver, New Mexico Highlands and Fort Lewis.

Taejhuan Hill leads the Grizzlies with 14.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season. Kiiyani Anitielu is just behind her with 14.6 points per game. In the RMAC, Adams State is second with 11.1 steals per game and fourth with a +3.6 turnover margin. Their defense ranks fifth in the conference.

About the Hardrockers

South Dakota Mines returns home after a 2-2 road trip, including an RMAC win over MSU Denver. In their narrow two-point loss at Colorado School of Mines, Savea Mansfield put up a career-high 32 points on 11-for-16 field goal shooting. She was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 30 points per game last weekend.

Mansfield leads the Hardrockers with 19.1 points per game with percentages of 54.5% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc and 83.5% at the free throw line. Morning Grace Spotted Bear is averaging 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season. The Hardrockers' 1.0 assists/turnover ratio is third in the RMAC, while their 14.4 assists per game is fourth.

Thursday night against Fort Lewis is Blackout Night at the King Center. All fans are encouraged to wear black to support the Hardrockers.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will be on the road for five of the next six games after this weekend. After their contests at Western Colorado and Westminster next weekend, they will return home on Jan. 29 to face Chadron State.
