Soccer to Face Adams State and Colorado Mesa this Weekend

RAPID CITY, SD – Undefeated South Dakota Mines Soccer will close out non-conference play this weekend with games at Adams State on Friday and at home against Colorado Mesa on Sunday.

Series History

South Dakota Mines is 3-6-5 all-time against Adams State dating back to 2013. In their two matches last season, the Grizzlies won 6-1 at Dakota Fields, but drew 0-0 in Alamosa, Colorado.

Against Colorado Mesa, the Hardrockers are 0-12-2 in their all-time history. These two teams drew 1-1 back on Oct. 6, 2024, at Dakota Fields. That draw broke an eight-game losing streak.

About the Grizzlies

Adams State is 1-4-1 so far this season. After losing their first three games and being outscored 19-0, they have rattled off a 5-4 win over Waylan Baptist and a 3-3 draw against Oklahoma Panhandle State. They fell to Colorado Mesa 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Avery Richards is tied for first in the RMAC with four goals this season. He had a hat trick on Sept. 18 against Wayland Baptist. Goalkeepers Lars Ostermann and Josh Kropf have both split time in net for the Grizzlies. Adams State was picked to finish last in the RMAC After they went 2-12-2 last season.

About the Mavericks

Colorado Mesa is 3-2-1 this season and go into the weekend on a two-game winning streak. In their season opener, they drew with #10 Midwestern State and took down UT Dallas. After falling to Western Oregon and Northwest Nazarene, the Mavericks defeated Simon Fraser and Adams State.

Matteo Bonelli, Manuel Ponce Casas, Nathan Hernandez and Kamden Kooiman all have three goals for the Mavericks this season. Goalkeeper Nathan Beck has two shutouts so far this season. After they went 5-10-2 last season, Colorado Mesa was picked to finish seventh in the RMAC this season.

About the Hardrockers

Through five matches, South Dakota Mines is off to their best start in program history. They are 3-0-2 and are outscoring opponents 21-4. After drawing 1-1 with Air Force, the Hardrockers took down Trinity Bible 10-0 in a record-setting win. Nine different players had at least one point in that game, highlighted by Chase Stohlmann's two goals and one assist.

Nickolas North is leading the Hardrockers with four goals and nine total points this season. Erik Castanon has three goals and two assists for the Hardrockers. South Dakota Mines has 12 different goal scorers this year. Abdo Salem Abdullah has a .714 save percentage with a 1.00 GAA through four games. What's Next

The Hardrockers will start RMAC play next week on Oct. 3 at Colorado School of Mines. They will return home to start a three-game homestand. Their first game of the homestand is on Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. against Regis.
