COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Erik Castanon has been named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week after his five-point performance over the weekend.
Erik Castanon, a freshman out of Fort Worth, Texas, earned Week 2 RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Castanon scored the first goal of his collegiate career at Dakota Wesleyan on Friday. His goal helped the Hardrockers top the Tigers 5-1. He later assisted a goal in that game. At Air Force on Sunday, the forward scored the opening goal in the 37
th minute to give South Dakota Mines a 1-0 lead. The Hardrockers would go on and draw with the Falcons to improve their record to 2-0-2.
With the award, Castanon becomes the first South Dakota Mines Offensive Player of the Week since Justin Barkow won it on Sept. 19, 2017. He is also the second Hardrocker freshman to earn a Player of the Week award after
Rider Grow won defensive honors on Sept. 26, 2023.
What's Next
The undefeated Hardrockers will come back home on Saturday to take on Trinity Bible at 11 a.m. for Family Day. Following that contest, they will go to Adams State for a non-conference matchup on Sept. 26 before returning home on Sept. 28 to play Colorado Mesa.
