Women's Basketball Has Split Week Against Rivals

Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. – After splitting a pair of games last weekend, the South Dakota Mines women's basketball team has a split week, with one game at home on Tuesday night and a road game at Black Hills State set for Saturday.

STRONG REBOUNDING
South Dakota Mines does a good job on the glass, outrebounding opponents by an average of 2.9 per game.  
 
The offensive glass is a strength for the 'Rockers, as they are third in the RMAC, averaging 12.4 offensive rebounds per game. 
 
Over the last five games, the Hardrockers have been strong on the glass, averaging 43.2 rebounds per game and allowing just 32.3 rebounds for a margin of +10.9.
 
With their recent success, South Dakota Mines will continue to rise in the league ranks. 
 
STRONG FROM BEYOND THE ARC
In conference play, the Hardrockers are one of the league's top three-point shooting and defending teams.
 
SDM hits 31% in conference play and allows 28.3% on the defensive end, both fourth in the league.
 
BALL MOVEMENT
The Hardrockers also do a great job of moving the ball on offense, averaging 13.6 assists per game as a team in RMAC play, the third most in the RMAC. 
 
SAVEA STEPS UP
Savea Mansfield was the top scorer for the Hardrockers over the past week, as she scored 18 points against Western Colorado and 12 against Westminster, giving her 30 for the week.
 
CRASHING THE GLASS
The Hardrockers' rebounding was a big reason for their victory against Westminster, as they grabbed 48 boards while four players had seven or more.
 
SCOUTING CHADRON STATE
Chadron State has been struggling a bit so far this year, having lost eight of the last nine contests. It is now 3-13 and 2-8 in RMAC play.
 
Despite their struggles, Chadron State is strong in several areas, including, but not limited to, its bench points per game (22.4, second RMAC), free throw percentage (79.2, second RMAC), defensive rebounds per game (28.3, second RMAC), and rebounds per game (38.75, 3rd, RMAC).
 
The Chadron State offense is led by Ashayla Powers, Allison Richards, and Kylie Krise, who average 10.8, 10.5, and 10.3 points per game.
 
Powers and Krise also lead the team on the glass, averaging 5.9 and 5.4.
 
SCOUTING BLACK HILLS STATE
Black Hills State has had a strong season thus far, with a 7-3 record in the RMAC and an 11-6 overall mark. 
 
Black Hills State has an assist/turnover ratio of 1.03, second best in the RMAC. It is also one of the best shooting teams in the league, hitting 42.4% from the field and allowing opponents to hit 38.7% of their shots, also near the top of the league.
 
The Yellow Jackets take care of the ball, turning it over 12 times per night.
 
Kalla Bertram and Haylee Weathersby are two of their top players, leading them in scoring with 13.6 and 13.4 points per game.
 
Bertram leads the Jackets with seven rebounds per game. Weathersby hits 55% of her shots, while Bertram hits nearly 45%.

Next week, the Hardrockers take on UCCS and Colorado Christian at home on Feb. 6 and Feb. 8.
