COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – This afternoon, the RMAC selected its all-academic team for indoor track & field.
South Dakota Mines had 14 female student-athletes and 17 male student-athletes recognized.
Alana Howard was South Dakota Mines' lone representative on the first team.
Requirements for a selection to the first team are to have completed the previous semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above and have completed two consecutive semesters at the institution and are voted on.
Howard from Miller, S.D. is a chemical engineering major with a perfect GPA and as a sophomore, this is her first time with eligibility for the award in track & field.
In addition to her performance in the classroom, Howard has been a big part of the improvement in the cross country and track & field teams early in her career, recording six top 10 finishes and qualifying for the regional and conference championships twice in cross country.

Requirements for a selection to the honor roll are similar to the first team but requires a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
