MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- The South Dakota Mines Cross Country teams continued their improvement in Minneapolis at the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
Clare Fischer was the top finisher, grabbing a top-20 finish with her time of 23:07.5. The sophomore finished in 18th out of a total of 431 athletes. As a team, the Women placed in 11
th out of 37 teams competing in the Maroon race containing Division II and III competition. The Hardrockers top-7 included
Allyson Heiden (53, 24:00.3),
Abbie Saline (69, 24:20.6),
Alana Howard (72, 24:22.7),
Adeline Wilson (123, 25:17.1),
Lillian Knudtson (153, 26:15.0), and
Laine Mannes (173, 26:49.8).
The men also took an 11
th place finish out of 32 teams in the Division II and III race. South Dakota Mines' men were led by a pair of top-50 finishers in
Brett Flerchinger (38, 26:49.2) and
Tyler Captain (48, 26:56.5). Just outside the top-50 were
Tristan Enders (52, 26:59.2) and Joran Lamoureax (59, 27:04.5).
Zach Hentschel (78, 27:24.2),
Owen Hansmann (95, 27:39.6), and
Owen Wagner (104, 27:50.2) rounded things out for the men.
The Cross Country teams have a week off, before looking to continue to improve at MSU Billings on Oct. 7 as a tune up for the RMAC Championships on Oct. 21.
