BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines indoor track and field teams sent a small contingent to the SDSU Holiday Open & Multi this weekend in the season opener at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex and finished up on Saturday.
The Hardrockers had one top-eight placer and four personal bests, all in the weight throws.
Jaycie Stubbs led the way with an eighth-place finish in the women's shot put with a best heave of 12.91 meters (42-feet, 4 ¼ inches), which is a personal best. Her finish enabled the Hardrockers to score one team point.
Taegen Wells didn't quite score any team points, but he finished 10th in the men's 60-meter hurdles in 8.61 seconds.
Ian Cone set a personal best in the men's shot put at 13.63 meters and
Abbie Van Ruler and
Adisyn Schenck set indoor personal bests in the weight throw at 14.19 and 13.02 respectively.
Aidan Thompson finished up the Heptathlon on Saturday, recording a third-place finish, scoring 4220 points.
