Hardrocker Volleyball Falls in Thrilling 5-Setter

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- South Dakota Mines and Chadron State met up in a thilling match on Saturday evening that went the distance for a full 5-sets.

The first set went the Hardrockers way as they started off with a ton of momentum thanks to kills by Morgan Daugherty, Jacey Koethe, Lily Bartling and an ace by Katie Angel getting the Hardrockers to a 5-0 lead. South Dakota Mines would go on another five-point run later in the set and would eventually close out the set with a 25-20 victory.

The Eagles from Chadron State would control much of the play in the second set and take the set 25-19 and the third set 25-22.

The fourth would be a battle between the two teams but runs of 5-0 and 3-0 (twice) would send the match to a fifth set with the Hardrockers taking it 25-22.

The fifth set was a back-and-forth affair at the beginning until Chadron State scored four straight points to take a 12-7 lead and would go on to win the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.
