Volleyball Falls to Rival

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The South Dakota Mines volleyball team took on Black Hills State during homecoming week on Tuesday night in an electric environment.
 
In the match, the Hardrockers were unable to find a rhythm and fell in three sets to the Yellow Jackets.
 
How It Happened – Black Hills State took the momentum early in the first set, getting five straight points to take a 12-7 lead and follow it up later with another 5-point run to take a 20-12 lead. The Hardrockers fought back, cutting it to 24-20 but the Yellow Jackets would get the final point and take the set.
 
In the second set, the Yellow Jackets got out to an early 8-1 lead and followed through to win the set 25-17.
 
The third set was the Hardrockers best as the battled back and forth with the Yellow Jackets, but Kindra Cerrone and Madison Hoopman were too much on this night as Black Hills State won 25-22.
 
Notes – Jacey Koethe led the team with 12 points…Kiley Metzger had 22 assists…Anna Thomas recorded 19 digs…Morgan Daugherty added three blocks.
 
Up Next –The Hardrockers take on Regis on the road on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m.
