NEW ORLEANS, LA. --- The Men's and Women's All-Academic teams and athletes for the 2021 NCAA Division II Cross Country Season were announced on Thursday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

South Dakota Mines was well-represented with two individuals being named All-Academic as well as both teams being named All-Academic.

 To qualify for All-Academic distinction as a student-athlete, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

To qualify for All-Academic distinction as a team, the team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

Ryan Moen and
Brett Flerchinger earned the individual awards with GPAs of 3.817 and 3.821 as chemical engineering and mathematics majors.

The Men's team recorded a GPA of 3.5 as a team, meanwhile, the women had a combined GPA of 3.575.
