Hardrockers Put Winning Streak To The Test This Weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines women's basketball team will put its four-game winning streak to the test this weekend as two of the region's ranked opponents comes to town for Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
 
Colorado Mesa is set to play the Hardrockers Friday night and Westminster College is on the schedule for Saturday from Goodell Gymnasium at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.
 
The Hardrockers are on a tear behind the strength of a four-game winning streak and victors in five of their last six league matchups. South Dakota Mines enters Friday's game with a 7-6 overall record and 7-5 mark in the conference.
 
After winning on the road against UCCS last weekend (72-61), the 'Rockers fended off the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves on Tuesday night, 73-65. The team is now averaging 66.1 ppg, shooting 41 percent from the field and have cashed in on 101 three-pointers to shoot 36 percent from downtown.
 
Opponents of the Hardrockers have averaged 65.3 ppg and have shot 42.3 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the arch.
 
Individually, the 'Rockers are led in scoring and rebounding by Ryan Weiss, who is putting up 18.8 ppg and collecting 6.8 rpg. Michaela Shaklee and Naomi Hidalgo are both contributing with just over 8 ppg.
 
Looking at the Colorado Mesa matchup, the Mavericks come into the game with a 10-4 overall record. They are ranked seventh in the South Central Region. After earning wins over Regis University (66-55) and Fort Lewis College (71-49), CMU fell to Westminster College this past Tuesday, 64-61.
 
Colorado Mesa is led by a trio of Mavericks as Natalie Bartle leads the way with 15.1 ppg; Daniella Turner contributes with 15.0 ppg; and Kylyn Rigsby cashes in for 14.9 ppg.  Kelsey Siemons tops the roster on rebounds, hauling in 6.2 ppg and Sophie Anderson tallies 5.9 ppg.
 
Friday's game is set for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff at the King Center. No fans are permitted, but the game will be stream live and for free along with Livestats on the Hardrocker Network by logging onto www.gorockers.com .
 
Westminster is also having a solid season as the Griffins are currently ranked eighth in the South Central Region -- and after their big win in Grand Junction, Colorado on Tuesday, come to town with a 7-2 overall and RMAC record.
 
The Griffins also have three players leading the team's offense as Mariah Martin leads the way with 15.7 ppg, Hunter Krebs puts up 15.2 ppg and Sarah McGinley registers 13.2 ppg. Kaitlin Toluono leads the rebounding efforts with 8.4 rpg.
