SPEARFISH, S.D. --- The South Dakota Mines men's and women's track and field teams were able to complete another indoor track meet over the weekend, traveling back up to Spearfish, South Dakota, for the Yellow Jacket Indoor Invitational at the Donald E. Young Field House.
The Hardrockers posted some impressive marks as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor Championships nears. That event will be held in Spearfish on Feb. 26-27.
Eric Keeble earned another top finish in the women's pole vault, taking first place after clearing a height of 3.75 meters. She also won the women's 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 9.37.
Other Top 5 performances for the Hardrocker women during the meet included: Abbie Saline took second in the 800 run (2:37.38); Lillian Knudston finished third in the mile (6:01.07);
Taylor Bright was fourth in the 3,000 (11:36.14) and
Nadia Kaczmarz grabbed fifth (12:51.33);
Kamryn Scully earned third in the 60 hurdles (9.63) and then was fifth in the pole vault (3.42); Verna Rust secured fourth in the triple jump (9.83);
Tierney Robinson finished third in the long jump (4.66);
Jenna Sayler took second in the shot put (12.62) and then earned third in the weight throw (15.58); ad
Macy McClure was fourth in both the shot put (11.71) and the weight throw (15.37).
On the men's side,
Andrew Ferris earned the top time in the 800, clocking a time of 1.57.80 while teammate
Joel Haas secured the top spot in the 3,000, registering a time of 8:53.12. Â Johnathan Hopkins clocked a time of 8.65 to finish first in the 60 hurdles; and the 'Rockers went 1, 2, 3, in the pole vault.
Ty Nickerson won the event after clearing a height of 4.59, Hopkins took second, also with a 4.59 while
Jared Wilson secured third with a 4.44.
Other Top 5 finishes for the SDM men, include: Tim Dunham took third in the 3,000 (9:05.16) and
Brett Flerchinger was a spot behind in fourth (9:12.21);
Tayler Opstedahl grabbed fifth in the 60 hurdles (9.07); Henry Frizler took fourth in the shot put (14.20); and
Dakin Nolan earned second in the weight throw (16.17) and
Warren Minerich was fourth (15.71).
