RAPID CITY, S.D. --- After winning their third-straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup this last weekend, the South Dakota Mines women's basketball team is in for a heavy dose of home games as the Hardrockers prepare for the first of five-straight RMAC bouts in Rapid City.
First up is the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves Tuesday evening.
The Hardrockers enter the rescheduled matchup (originally slated for Jan. 9 at the King Center) with a 6-6 overall record and 6-5 mark in the conference after an impressive victory this past Friday over the UCCS Mountain Lions, 72-61.
South Dakota Mines is currently averaging 65.5 points per game while allowing opponents to score just 65.4 ppg. The 'Rockers have shooting percentage of .404 and have an accuracy of 37 percent from three-point range.
Individually for the Hardrockers,
Ryan Weiss leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.0 ppg and 6.7 rpg.
Michaela Shaklee continues her outstanding season, averaging 8.8 ppg as she is shooting 50 percent from downtown (21-42).
Naomi Hidalgo is also finding her stride, putting up 7.9 ppg and coming down with 6.3 rpg.
Weiss ranks third in the RMAC with 18.0 ppg while
Anna Combalia ranks second in the RMAC with 4.8 assists per game.
The ThunderWolves now stands 1-8 overall and 1-8 in RMAC play after losing to Colorado School of Mines and Regis University last weekend. The Pack battled the Orediggers for three quarters before the Orediggers pulled away with a 61-50 win. CSU Pueblo could not stop the hot-shooting Rangers who bested the Pack 77-66.
Sydni Williams (Sr., Little Rock, Ark.) leads the Pack with 13.9 points per game. JaNaiya Davis (Jr., Waco, Texas) ranks 18th in D-II with 5.4 assists per game. Davis and Williams are the best free throw shooting tandem in the RMAC. Davis leads the RMAC with a 92.0 free throw percentage, three percent better than anyone else in the conference. Jazzy Hughes (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) emerged as a scoring threat for the Pack over this road trip. Hughes has averaged 11.3 points per game over her last three games. She has made 65.0 percent from the field during that span. Hughes has made 4-for-4 from downtown during her past three games.
The ThunderWolves lead the all-time series against the Hardrockers 7-3. The Hardrockers won both meetings last year, snapping a streak of six straight victories in the series for the Pack.
