Hardrocker Football Looks for Best Start Since 2016

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The Hardrockers are coming off a come-from-behind victory to push them over .500 for the season and give them their first RMAC win of the season. Now they look to take it one step further and look to move to 4-2 which would be the best start of a season since 2016.  
 
Series History

      vs. Fort Lewis 
  • These two schools met for the first time on 9/3/2011 and have met a total of 5 times.
  • Fort Lewis won the first three matchups in the series.
  • The Hardrockers have bounced back to win the two most recent matchups in 2018, and 2019.
Gold Nuggets
  • The Hardrocker offense has been great on third downs, converting 35 of 75 for a percentage of 46.7, the second-best in the RMAC.
  • When the offense gets to the Redzone, it usually converts, scoring at a rate of 85.7%, the fourth-best mark in the conference, with 16 of the 21 appearances resulting in 6 points.
  • The offensive line has allowed just 8 sacks thus far on the season.
  • Defensively, the Hardrockers have turned the opponent over 12 times.
  • Jayden Johannsen has 392 total yards of offense with 277 coming through the air, 115 on the ground, along with 5 total touchdowns last week to earn RMAC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Johannsen is 8th in the RMAC in Rushing and first among quarterbacks.
  • The Hardrockers boast three wide receivers in the top 12 in the RMAC in receptions. Collin Zur, Jeremiah Bridges and Isaiah Eastman have 19 reception each, tying them for 7th in the conference.  
  • Zur is 6th in receiving yards, Eastman is 8th, and Bridges is 11th.
  • Ahmad Lewis has scored 6 touchdowns this season, tied for the 2nd most in the RMAC.
  • Kyante Christian and Gavin Chaddock have 3 sacks each, putting them in the top 10 in the conference.
  • Christian is also in the top 10 with 5.5 tackles for loss.
  • Kendahl Johnson has two interceptions this season.
  • Adrian Eastman has two fumble recoveries.
Scouting Report
     
    Fort Lewis 
  • Fort Lewis has started the season 0-5 and for the most part, has not been very competitive.
  • They have been outscored 261-31 in their games thus far.
  • Fort Lewis is at the bottom of the RMAC in points scored and points against, as well as total yards gained and given up.
  • In addition to that, they are at the bottom of the conference in several other statistical categories.
  • Offensively, Fort Lewis has been led by quarterback Brayden Miller, running back Jeff Hansen, and wide receiver Dylan Holt.
  • Fort Lewis has four players in the top 11 in tackles in the conference, with Jayden Helms leading the conference with 66.

The Hardrockers head to Colorado, to take on the current #5 team in the country the Colorado School of Mines on October 16th at noon.
