RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Football hits the road this week to take on Fort Lewis on Saturday at 12 p.m.
Series History
The Hardrockers lead the all-time series 7-3 over Fort Lewis. After losing their first three matchups, the Rockers have won seven straight games over the Skyhawks. Last season, South Dakota Mines walked off Fort Lewis after being down 21-10 in the fourth quarter.
Gage Baker was 36-for-52 with 310 passing yards in that game.
About the Skyhawks
Fort Lewis is 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the RMAC this season. At home, they are 2-0 so far this year. Last week, they fell 28-20 at (RV) Black Hills State. After winning their first two games of the season against Arizona Christian and New Mexico Highlands, they have lost their last two games.
Solomon Latimer is third in the RMAC with 82.3 receiving yards per game with four touchdowns. Trenton Sullivan's 10.0 tackles per game is third in the RMAC, while Drennan Dowell's 9.3 per game is fifth. Fort Lewis was picked ninth in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
About the Hardrockers
The Rockers improved to 4-1 and 2-1 in the RMAC following their 34-23 victory against New Mexico Highlands last week. Baker was 21-for-36 with 287 yards and three touchdowns in that game.
Aiden Werlinger totaled seven tackles, five quarterback hurries, 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.
So far this season, Baker has 1,102 passing yards with 11 passing touchdowns.
Dawson Dunbar is first in the RMAC with 102.0 rushing yards per game and eight rushing touchdowns. As a team, the Rockers rank fourth in the conference in offense and fourth in defense. The Rockers were picked to finish in seventh in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
