WACO, Texas. – South Dakota Mines Football is receiving votes in the AFCA Division II Poll for the first time in program history.
The Hardrockers go into their bye week with a 5-1 record and 3-1 RMAC record. After starting the season with a 38-35 victory at Division I Drake, the Hardrockers opened up their home slate defeating Southwest Baptist 38-17.
Following an overtime loss to Colorado Mesa, the Rockers have rattled off three straight wins at Adams State, against New Mexico Highlands and at Fort Lewis last week.
Through six contests, the Hardrockers are third in the RMAC in offense and fourth in defense.
Dawson Dunbar leads the conference with 103.3 rushing yards per game and 10 touchdowns. On defense, the Rockers 10 interceptions is first in the RMAC and third in NCAA DII, while their rushing defense is ninth in the nation.
Overall, the Rockers are averaging a time of possession of 33:47, the best mark in the RMAC and fifth-best mark in NCAA DII.
The Hardrockers have not received votes in any poll since the 2010 season, their last as an NAIA member. At the end of that season, they were ranked #19 in NAIA.

st Black Hills Brawl on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. The Rockers head to Golden for a matchup with Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 24.
