RAPID CITY, S.D. --- South Dakota School of Mines men's basketball player Logan Elers has been named to the 2019-20 Google Cloud Academic All-District® First Team announced by CoSIDA on Thursday.

Elers is a senior forward from Rotorua, New Zealand studying Metallurgical Engineering with a 3.823 GPA. Earlier this year, he was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Player of the Year and named to the RMAC Academic First Team. Elers has started every game this season and is shooting almost 60 percent from the field while averaging 11 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

"We couldn't be more proud of Logan," said Hardrocker men's basketball head coach Eric Glenn. "Logan has a strong dedication for his academics, but also has a passion for the game. It's great to see his work-ethic shine through for both."

The 2019-20 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Basketball Teams recognize the nation's top scholar-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Elers, who reached a Hardrocker milestone earlier this season by scoring over 1,000 points and recording over 500 rebounds in his college career also earned Academic All District First Team honors as a junior.
   
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March. SD Mines is in District 6 which is made up of the RMAC, Lone star and Heartland conferences.
