Lee Puts up 38 as Rockers Fall at Home to Mavericks

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball lost to Colorado Mesa 110-93 on Thursday night.

The Mavericks outscored the Hardrockers 54-45 in the first half. With an early 8-12 deficit, Darren Wallace and Jason Lee hit back-to-back three-pointers to go up 14-12. Colorado Mesa retook a four-point lead with 10:03 left in the half.

Lee recorded five consecutive points to give the Rockers a 29-28 advantage. A Mavericks 8-0 run gave them the lead 36-29 with 6:39 remaining. After Lee made it a three-point game, a Mavericks 7-0 run made the score 49-39. Lee brought the deficit down to 45-54 at halftime.

Colorado Mesa won 110-93 after winning the second half 56-48. They quickly increased the lead to 16 points at the 16:42 mark. While South Dakota Mines put up points, Colorado Mesa answered back as they kept a double-digit lead the rest of the way, winning 110-93.

Lee had one of his best games of the season with 38 points on 13-for-21 field goal shooting and 6-for-9 three-point percentage. He also had five assists and three rebounds. Wallace recorded a career-high 25 points. He was 9-for-13 from the field and 7-for-11 from three-point range. Ryan Sweeney put up 10 points and five assists.

The Hardrockers shot 50.8% from the field, 52.9% from deep and 81.3% at the free throw line. In total, the Rockers had 24 points in the paint and 16 fast break points.

What's Next

The Hardrockers will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday as they take on Western Colorado at 3 p.m. Senior Day celebrations will take place between the women's and men's games.
