RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Men's Basketball ended the 2025-26 campaign with Western Colorado on Saturday.
Western Colorado outscored South Dakota Mines 40-28 in the first half. After Quincy Scott started the game with a three-pointer,
Gray Thompson answered with his own three-point shot made. However, a 7-0 run made the score 10-3. With an 11-point deficit at the 10:44 mark, the Rockers went on a 6-0 run to make the score 16-21.
The Mountaineers did not back down and would go up 35-23 late in the half. Joanis Koulisianis scored the last five points for Western Colorado as they led by 12 points at halftime.
In the second half, the Hardrockers were outscored 41-35 to give the Mountaineers an 81-63 victory.
Jason Lee and Thompson combined for seven points to make the score 37-42 just over four minutes into the half. A Mountaineers 9-0 run increased their lead to 51-37 with 13:46 remaining. Both teams traded baskets in the middle of the half as the Mountaineers led by 12 with eight minutes to go.
A 12-3 Mountaineers run made the score 79-58 with 3:22 left in the game. Western Colorado would win 81-63 over the Hardrockers.
Lee recorded 24 points with seven field goals made for the Hardrockers. He also had three assists and two offensive rebounds.
Darren Wallace put up 13 points and five rebounds on 3-for-8 three-point shooting. Thompson totaled seven points and seven rebounds.
As a team, the Rockers were 34.9% from the field, 23.5% from deep and 100% at the free throw line. They had 26 points in the paint and 12 points off turnovers.
South Dakota Mines honored their three seniors before Saturday's game.
