RAPID CITY, S.D. – After a well-earned holiday break, the South Dakota Mines women's basketball team get back into action with yet another road trip to Colorado – this time visiting Durango and Gunnison Colorado to challenge Fort Lewis College and Western Colorado University.

These Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games were originally scheduled for the beginning of the season in late November, but because of COVID-19 issues, had to be pushed back.

The Hardrockers will take on the FLC Skyhawks on Sunday. Fort Lewis is also 1-4 on the season, earning a win over Colorado Christian, 73-67, back on Dec. 12. Since then, the Skyhawks have only played Colorado School of Mines, where the Orediggers dispatched FLC, 75-63.

The Hardrockers will look to shutdown Fort Lewis' top scorer Jordan Vasquez, who is averaging 22.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 29.3 minutes per game. She is shooting just shy of 60 percent from the field, all her points coming under the basket.  Teammate Bailey Osmer averages 10.3 ppg while Alyssa Adams cashes in for 9.3 ppg.

Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday with the game being streamed live on the Hardrocker Network at www.gorockers.com . Live stats will also be available as well.
The 'Rockers will then set their sites on the unbeaten Western Colorado Mountaineers in a Tuesday matchup in Gunnison.

The last time out for WCU, they defeated Colorado School of Mines, 57-51, in a battle of the unbeatens. That game was played Dec. 18. They've also earned wins over MSU Denver (67-51), Fort Lewis (84-69), and Black Hills State (81-74).

The Mountaineers have a balanced offense with Hannah Cooper leading the squad. She is averaging 20.8 ppg, followed by Samantha Coleman's 14.5 ppg and Emmery Wagstaff's 12.3 ppg.

Tuesday's game is slated for a 2 p.m. start and will be streamed live on the Hardrocker Network at: www.gorockers.com .

The 'Rockers opened the season the first weekend in December and have spent the entire month of December on the road with a 1-4 mark.  Ryan Weiss leads the 'Rockers averaging 18 ppg and 7.4 rpg. Naomi Hidalgo is picking up steam and is putting op 7.6 ppg while Bailey Johnson, Juneau Jones, Anna Combalia and Madelyn Heiser are all putting up around 5 ppg.
