COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- South Dakota School of Mines junior
Anna Haugen has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of The Week for the second consecutive week announced from the league office in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Monday.
Haugen had a great defensive effort this past Friday in the Hardrockers' season finale. The 5-foot-11-inch forward from Fort Collins, Colorado collected a game-high 16 rebounds in the SD Mines' victory over Black Hills State (69-62), to go along with her three blocks, two steals and five assists. Friday's game marked the third-consecutive contest with double-digit rebounds and the 10th time of the year.
"Congratulations for a third time and for the second week in a row to
Anna Haugen for being names RMAC Defensive Player of the Week," said Hardrocker women's basketball head coach
Ryan Larsen. "Anna's 16 rebounds were obviously a huge piece to our victory last Friday, but her individual defensive performance was even more instrumental for us to secure a win."
Coach Larsen added, "Our game plan defensively put a lot of weight on Anna's shoulders and she executed the plan flawlessly, her defensive effort and execution were outstanding."
