COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- South Dakota School of Mines junior
Anna Haugen has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of The Week announced from the league office in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Monday.
This is the second RMAC Defensive POW award Haugen has received this year.
Haugen had back-to-back double doubles and helped the Hardrockers earn two wins at home this past weekend. After hauling in 10 rebounds and cashing in for 10 points Friday in a win over UCCS (66-59), Haugen topped that Saturday by bringing down 11 rebounds and scoring 18 points in a big victory over Colorado School of Mines (56-54). She also notched one block and five steals Friday night and registered two blocks and two steals on Saturday.
"We are thrilled for Anna to be named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for a second time this season," said Hardrocker women's basketball head coach
Ryan Larsen. "Anna was extremely instrumental in our two victories this past weekend because of her rebounding efforts. What is even more impressive is that was able to accomplish it playing all 40 minutes both Friday and Saturday."
Haugen, a 5-foot-11-inch forward, from Fort Collins, Colorado, leads the team with 186 total rebounds this season and is second in the conference averaging 8.9 per game.
"Congratulations to Anna for a second time for RMAC Defensive Player of the week," Larsen added.
