'Rockers Square Off With Wildcats On Thursday

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines women's basketball team will play host to the Wayne State College Wildcats Thursday evening in a 5:30 p.m. tipoff at the King Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Hardrockers enter the non-conference game with a 1-1 record after falling to MSU Billings, 58-57, last Saturday in Montana. Wayne State comes to town with a 2-1 mark, most recently routing Peru State (Neb.), 86-49 last Wednesday in Wayne, Neb.
Wayne State was selected 11th overall and fifth in the South Division in the Preseason NSIC Women's Basketball Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats have a solid group of players with four scoring in double figures. Erin Norling paces the squad averaging 19 points a game shooting just under 40 percent on the young season. Brittany Bongartz and Halley Busse are key contributors dishing in 14.3 and 12.7 markers a night respectively.  

Ryan Weiss gave the 'Rockers a second-half spark last week and finished the game with 19 points in her season debut, most of her points coming in the fourth quarter. Anna Haugen is averaging 13.5 points per game and notched her second double-double of the year and is grabbing 11 rebounds on the year.
