COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- South Dakota School of Mines sophomore Dana Thomson was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week Monday by the league office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Thomson set an RMAC record for kills in a five-set match this past Friday, tallying 35 in the match against Fort Lewis College and had .346 hitting percentage. She backed that up with 23 kills in Saturday's four-set win (hitting percentage of .273) over Adams State as the sophomore had a .316 hitting percentage on the weekend and accumulated 62 points.

I am extremely proud of Dana for being named RMAC Offensive Player of The Week," said Hardrocker volleyball head coach Lauren Torvi – Prochazka. "This team has pushed Dana week after week to help her become the best attacker in the RMAC and in the country."

Thomson continues to lead the nation and the conference in kills (396) which is 93 more than second place in the RMAC. She is averaging a league high 4.45 kills per set, which ranks her fifth nationally. She is also leading the RMAC with 426.5 points (10^th nationally), averaging 4.77 per set. She is hitting .253 on the season.

"Our setters have worked constantly to set our outsides the way we needed them to be set in order for Dana to be this successful. This entire off-season Dana has worked to be better every day and be as consistent as she possibly can," Torvi – Prochazka said. "It is evident that she is locked in on what it takes to be the best attacker to help her team win games. The numbers that she and this team put out week after week is just a testament to how hard they've worked and how badly they want to win."

The Hardrockers are back in action this weekend playing host to Colorado Christian University on Friday followed by a matchup with Regis University Saturday.
