Warren Guides Rockers in Sweep over Lakers

RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball swept Lake Superior State 3-0 to open the Hardrocker Volleyball Invitational and the 2026 season.

The Hardrockers opened the night with a 25-14 set one win. At a 7-7 tie, the Rockers went on a 12-3 run to go up 19-10. They won the set 25-14 after a 6-4 run ended it.

In the second set, South Dakota Mines won 25-15 to go up 2-0 in the match. With an early 5-4 lead, the Rockers recorded a 7-2 run to take a 12-6 lead. They continued to double-up the Lakers as they later took an 18-9 lead. A block from Ivy Vindivich and Maria Bouman won the set 25-15.

16 kills in the third set for the Hardrockers gave them a 25-18 edge to win 3-0 over the Lakers. They started the set with a 13-5 lead. The Lakers went on a run to make it a three-point set, but the Hardrockers pulled away to win 25-18.

Cate Warren led the match with 12 kills and a .688 hitting percentage. Lexi Glendenning totaled eight kills. Brylin Gomer collected seven kills with four blocks, while Bouman and Joy Aburto both had five kills. Vindivich picked up 14 digs to lead the match. Emily Henderon had 18 assists and Hannah Joseph collected 14.

South Dakota Mines had 42 kills and hit for .283. Their 40 digs, eight blocks and 38 assists led the match.

What's Next

The Rockers will continue the Hardrocker Volleyball Invitational on Friday against Minnesota Crookston at 12 p.m. and Chadron State at 6 p.m. They will take on Jamestown on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. to close the weekend.
