RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Volleyball fell 3-1 to Jamestown to close out the Hardrocker Volleyball Invitational on Saturday night.
Jamestown won the first set 25-20 over the Hardrockers. With a 10-7 lead, the Jimmies went on a run to go up 21-15. They held that lead to the end to win 25-20.
In the second set, the Jimmies won 25-23 to go up 2-0 in the match. They recorded a 5-0 run following an 8-6 deficit to go up 11-8. The Rockers responded and eventually took a 21-20 lead late in the set. However, the Jimmies collected five of the next seven points to win 25-23 and go up 2-0 in the match.
South Dakota Mines responded in the third set with a 25-16 victory. A 9-1 run to open the set gave the Rockers an established lead. Both teams traded points the rest of the way as the Rockers won 25-16.
The Jimmies won the fourth 25-14 to win the match 3-1. With an 8-6 Jamestown lead, they picked up a 4-0 run to go up 12-6. That lead carried the Jimmies to an 18-9 advantage before winning 25-14.
Maria Bouman led the match with 12 kills along with a .455 hitting percentage, three blocks and four aces.
Cate Warren recorded 10 kills and a .321 hitting percentage.
Lexi Glendenning tallied nine kills and
Ivy Vindivich collected eight kills and 13 digs.
Campbell Sheffield totaled 18 digs for the Hardrockers.
South Dakota Mines hit for .217 and recorded 50 kills. They tallied 64 digs, 46 assists and seven blocks.
What's Next
The Hardrockers will head to the Mountain Lion Classic next weekend at UCCS. They will take on UCCS and Michigan Tech on Sept. 4, followed by St. Edward's and Midwestern State on Sept. 5.
