RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines Women's Basketball team will hit the road this weekend, after what was nearly an incredible weekend at home at the King Center in Rapid City.
The Lady Hardrockers nearly defeated No. 9 in the nation, Colorado State-Pueblo --- coming up just short, 66-64. SD Mines bounced back to win in dominating fashion Saturday, drubbing New Mexico Highlands, 71-4, and brought their overall record to 6-9 and improved in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference record to 4-6.

th our SD Mines women will hope the bad luck falls on their opponents, as they travel to face Adams State in Alamosa, Colo. The Lady Grizzlies have lost 10 straight, and are last in the RMAC.
"Adams State doesn't have a tremendous record right now," said Hardrocker women's basketball head coach
Ryan Larsen. "They run a bunch of different zones defensively. We have to be very aware of what they are doing defensively."
Last season the Lady 'Rockers defeated the Grizzlies, 58-43. So far this season, the Hardrockers are averaging 65.7 points per game while the Grizzlies are scoring just 52.5 (worst in the RMAC).
On Saturday the SD Mines hoopsters will travel to Durango, Colo., for a contest against Fort Lewis College. The Skyhawks are 12-3 overall and 7-3 in conference play this year. Fort Lewis had won seven straight games until losing their last contest against University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
"Fort Lewis is a very good team. You make a mistake, they are going to find a way to make you pay," Larsen added.
The Skyhawks have one of the best defenses in the RMAC, only allowing 58.3 points per game this season. Junior Briana Clah could present a handful for the Lady 'Rockers. Clah is the fourth highest scorer in the RMAC, averaging over 15 points per game.
"The kids got after it in practice this morning," said head coach
Ryan Larsen, feeling positive about his team's recent performance. "[They] are playing with a lot of confidence right now."
The Hardrockers will lean on its senior center this weekend,
Megan Rohrer. The Greenwood Village, Colorado native is averaging 9.7 points per game, has 93 total rebounds, and 23 blocks on the season.
"'Road warriors' is definitely our motto this week," concluded Coach Larsen.
