RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Soccer fell 3-2 to Rocky Mountain on Thursday night at Dakota Fields.
The Bears went on the board first in the 22
nd minute. After
Erik Castanon was substituted on, he took a penalty kick in 31
st minute. He scored off the penalty kick to make the score 1-1. Both teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
Shon West set up
Nickolas North for North's second goal of the season in the 58
th minute. West picked up his third assists of the 2026 campaign.
Rocky Mountain tied the game in the 67
th minute and took a 3-2 lead in the 76
th minute. The Rockers could not respond and fell to the Bears 3-2.
North picked up a goal, four shots and two shots on goal. Castanon was the only other Hardrocker to pick up a shot on goal.
Abdo Salem Abdullah tallied five saves for South Dakota Mines.
What's Next
The Hardrockers stay at home to take on Dakota Wesleyan on Monday at 5 p.m. They will go to Colorado School of Mines on Sept. 18 at 6 p.m., followed by a contest against Adams State at home on Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.
