GOLDEN, Colo. & SIOUX CITY, Iowa – South Dakota Mines Track & Field completed their busy week at the Mines Midweek & Multi, the Sioux City Relays and the Kit Mayer Classic this week.
Starting with the Mines Midweek & Multi,
Kane Aberle highlighted with a win in the shot put, picking up a 15.12m mark. He also took second in the discus with his 41.95m throw. Aberle collected fourth in the hammer throw as well.
Augustus Fink and
Isaiah Thurman both hit NCAA DII provisional marks in the hammer throw. Fink recorded fifth with his 58.70m throw, while Thurman's 57.63m mark put him in sixth.
Reese Terwilliger's career-best 13.07m shot put placed her in third place. She also placed third in the discus at 36.15m and had a career-best 31.72m hammer throw.
At the Sioux City Relays,
John Strabala broke a school record in the 800m, running a 1:51.00 to pick up fourth place. He also won the 1500m event with his time of 4:01.75.
Noah Feldt took second in the 200m with his career-best 21.61 mark.
Merek Ranstrom ran a 14.33 in the 110h event for an NCAA DII provisional mark. He also won the 400h with his 53.17. The 4x400 relay of Ranstrom,
Isaac Haynie,
Brian Keairnes and
Alexander Pygott took second place.
Everett Gilbert won the high jump with his 1.98m jump.
Emily Jones recorded ninth place out of 34 runners in the 1500m event, running a career-best 4:55.12.
Addison Smetana and
Clare Fischer placed ninth and 10
th, respectively, in the 10,000m event.
The Hardrockers went down to Golden on Saturday for the Kit Mayer Classic.
Owen Johnson recorded seventh place in the 1500m with his time of 4:00.93.
What's Next
South Dakota Mines comes back home on Wednesday for the Bauer Open at O'Harra Stadium. The RMAC Outdoor Championships is scheduled for Apr. 24-26 in Pueblo, Colorado.
