MITCHELL, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Track & Field recorded numerous career-bests and records at the DWU Alumni Open on Saturday.
Joran Lamoreaux broke the 3000m record, set in 2020 by Ryan Moen. Lamoreaux ran an 8:34.31 for first place in the event.
Augustus Fink also shattered the weight throw record, last held by Jack Batho in 2018. Fink threw his second throw 19.47m, an NCAA DII provisional mark. He took first place out of nine throwers.
Brian Keairnes took home first in the 200m event, clocking in at 23.50.
Sawyer Rueckert's 51.76 in the 400m gave him first place.
Owen Johnson won the mile event with his time of 4:19.58.
Merek Ranstrom won the 60 hurdles, and the relay of Keairnes, Rueckert, Johnson and
John Strabala won the 400m relay.
In the pole vault
Zachary Vanicek jumped a career-best 4.70m, taking home first place.
Weston Pierce's 13.43m in the triple jump gave him first and a new career best.
Cooper Stevens collected first in the shot put, picking up a 14.94m mark.
The Hardrocker women's team showed improvement at the event after recording numerous top performances and career bests.
Emma Moody ran a season-best 1:04.84 for first place in the 400m.
Emily Jones won the mile event, clocking in at 5:27.02.
Addison Smetana recorded first place in the 3000m, running a career-best 10:55.75. Emily Humber jumped a career-best 5.18m in the long jump for first place.
What's Next
South Dakota Mines is back in action next weekend at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, South Dakota. They will go to the Myrle Hansen Open on Feb. 21 before the RMAC Championships from Feb. 27-28.
