SPEARFISH, S.D. – South Dakota Mines Track and Field highlighted in their first meet of the new year at Black Hills State on Saturday.
On the men's side, South Dakota Mines saw numerous career-bests and first place finishes.
Zachary Vanicek picked up first place and a career-best 4.60m in the pole vault.
After winning the high jump at the Wyoming Power Meet last month,
Everett Gilbert won it again with a career-best jump of 2.03m. That is 0.01m off the NCAA DII provisional mark.
Isaac Haynie also won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.35. Merek Ranstorm and
Logan Haynie finished right behind him.
John Strabala took home gold in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.88.
Owen Johnson finished third place.
Noah Feldt recorded a win in the 200 meters, clocking in at 22.99. He picked up third place in the 60-meter event with his time of 7.05 seconds.
The men's team won the Dave Little Alumni Open, followed by Black Hills State, Chadron State and Rocky Mountain.
The Hardrocker women's team collected sixth place at the event. In the shot put,
Adisyn Schenck picked up a 12.46m mark for second place.
The 4x400 relay of
Emma Moody,
Emily Hubmer,
Emily Jones and
Grace Pridgeon recorded second. In the 800-meter event, Jones ran a 2:30.34, the second-best time out of 21 runners.
