SPEARFISH, SD – Brycen Farris recorded first place at The Homestake Invite to guide South Dakota Mines Men's Golf to second place.
Brycen Farris had the best two rounds of his collegiate career so far at The Homestake Invite. On day one, Farris shot a 75 with five birdies in the round. He had a career-best 69 in the second round as he had an eagle, one birdie and no bogeys. His combined score of 144 is a new career best.
Isaac Schmidt picked up sixth place with his score of 152.
Tyler White shot a 158 for 12
th, while
Ramey Lloyd's 160 put him in 15
th.
Matai Naqica rounded out the "Gold" team in 26
th. On the "Navy" team,
Carter Hillukka collected 14
th,
Andrew Sinar was in 15
th,
Caeden Ekroth finished in 20
th and
Leo Daiss rounded out the top five in 24
th. Individually,
Alex Makarchuk shot a 157 for 11
th place overall.
Hayden Overfield and
Cole Thompson finished in 26
th and 30
th, respectively.
Overall, the "Gold" team picked up second place, just behind Montana State-Billings. Central Wyoming recorded third, while the "Navy" team collected fourth place.
On the women's side,
Alison Kennedy highlighted for the Hardrockers with ninth place. She shot a 163, including a 77 in round two to move up 11 spots.
Marin Keller and
Kenzie Schroeder both tied for 11
th place.
Addiley Lloyd recorded 30
th for the Hardrockers. Individually,
Kaliyah Watson recorded 43
rd,
Taylor Ullen finished in 46
th and
Avery Ellis placed 49
th.
As a team, South Dakota Mines finished in fifth place overall. They finished one spot above Black Hills State. Nebraska Kearney won the invite, with Montana State-Billings in second.
What's Next
The men's team is back in action on Sept. 29-30 at the Marauder Invite in Bismarck, North Dakota. Both teams will play in the Yellowjacket Fall Invitational on Oct. 6-7 in Billings Montana.
