Hardrockers Fall to Lopers 67-80 to Close 2025

KEARNEY, Neb. – South Dakota Mines Women's Basketball dropped a non-conference contest to Nebraska Kearney at the Health & Sports Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Lopers came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring the Hardrockers 23-15. Nebraska Kearney picked up a 9-0 run to start the game. South Dakota Mines battled back-and-forth with the Lopers to close the quarter as they led 23-15.

In the second quarter, Nebraska Kearney outscored the Hardrockers 24-17 to go up 47-32 in the game. With a 17-point deficit, Savea Mansfield and Morning Grace Spotted Bear combined for five points to bring the lead down to 12 points. The Lopers put up four straight points to end the half to lead 47-32.

South Dakota Mines was outscored 19-17 in the third quarter. A 10-2 Hardrocker run made the score 45-56 with 3:35 left. The Lopers put up eight points at the end of the quarter to extend their lead to 66-49 with one quarter left.

The Hardrockers attempted a comeback but fell short after outscoring the Lopers 18-14 in the fourth. Addison Miranda made the score 55-70 with 6:05 left but the Lopers drained a three-pointer to end any potential Hardrocker run. South Dakota Mines would fall 67-80 to close out 2025.

Mansfield led the team with 16 points and four rebounds. She was 7-for-13 from the field and 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. Abigail Dille put up a season-high 13 points for the Hardrockers. Miranda picked up 10 points, while Samantha Darnell recorded four assists.

With the loss, the Hardrockers fell to 4-7 overall with their 3-1 RMAC record.

What's Next

They will take the rest of 2025 off before their first 2026 game at Minnesota Crookston on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. CT. RMAC play starts back up on Jan. 8 at MSU Denver.
